This is a bit late.
The as many know takes place in Forrest, Vic. One of the best places in Australia to have a 24hr race. This year I took part in a 4 man team. To figure out who was riding first it was the shortest straw. I got the longest. Woo. I ended up doing 7 laps, I think.
We came 8th out of 64 teams. Pretty good for a team from Forrest Mountain Bike and Cycling club.
Round 1. Bendigo. It never races in Bendigo, every time i’ve race there it’s been hot and dusty. Today was a different story. Wet, Muddy and Cold. I led the first lap which I was happy with until I lost my rear brake. Absolutely nothing, found out at the finish 3 laps with no rear brake later, I had lost an actually brake pad. I finish with 2nd which was pretty awesome for my first State Series race. I’m looking forward to round 2. Beconsfield. See you then.
They are all over for year 11. Thank god. All went well, I hope. Have to go to school next week for early start class, which will be good and bad. I’m over school for now.
I’ve really only ever rode 3 road bikes. An $50 ones, which got me started, a Giant OCR 2, which I still train on and my Giant TCR 1. I can feel the difference in speed and acceleration with the OCR and TCR. When I got on my TCR Advanced team, I didn’t just feel the difference. It felt amazing. Up hill, down hill and on the flat it was fast. Very fast. It’s acceleration is mind blowing, you get out of the saddle put the power on and Whoosh! you’re 20 metres up the road. This is just with my alloy wheels, i’m still to take my carbon wheels out for a burl. It should make it fast. That’s how I like it.
This is my new bike. YAY! It looks so good. It’s sleeping in my room for quite some time I think. This is it with my Bouwmeester 50mm yellow dot wheels. It came with the C50 Dura Ace carbon wheels that my old bike is showing off.

This is my old bike. A Giant TCR team tmobile. It has served me since 2005. I got it in 2006 secondhand off a local A grade rider. It came with Shimano Ultegra which has been awesome. This is it when it was new, just with a different paint job.

Out training after school. God it was hot. Today was 28 degrees, real summer riding weather. The new tan is building very nicely. Tan are bad.
I did 30km until I met the bunch of 8. I had a great chat with the guys and then went off on my way and did another 30km. I ended up with a nice 92km. Just as it was getting dark. I like day light savings.
I decided to ride the back roads as a bit of a warm up before the Surf Coast 6hr. I met a fellow rider (that didn’t talk) and rode very bored with him for about 20km. He was riding to Torquay. At the T intersection he went left, I went right. Thank God. 10km to Aireys Inlet. Never been down this part of the Great Ocean Road. It was great. The sea by my side. I stopped at Aireys and had coffee with a friend then back to Anglesea.
Race. Just 2 fast laps. I did the 11km lap in 29mins and 31mins. Got slowed down in traffic the second lap. But still had fun.
My girlfriend Meghan is a whizz at creatively making me look pro and jazz. She is the one who got me tumblin’.
